Tag Reader with 11′ range developed

The RFID web log reports on a low power RFID system that purportedly can read tags from 11 feet away. Looks like Moore’s law may be applied to RFID systems a bit faster than we think.

  1. The note about “tag reader with 11′ range developed” is wrong. The article says 11 METERS. That’s well over 33 feet (give or take).

  2. I hope that these types of developments will help to dispel the notion that RFID is useless for widespread tracking. If the range contines to grow at this rate, privacy issues will need to be seriously adressed lest RFID face a full scake public backlash.
